Summer heat and drought stress..

July 26, 2016

With the extreme heat/lack of rain we've been experiencing, even well established plants may begin to wilt and show signs of drought stress.  Most species will recover as conditions improve, however, several consecutive hot, dry summers can cause lasting damage or worse. While choosing the proper plants for your location, building the soil, and mulching will help to minimize the effects of drought stress, occasionally you may need to provide supplemental water.

For example, the Kousa Dogwood pictured here can be easily revived by letting your hose trickle near its overnight.
